Claimed by Night is an interesting concept, but not necessarily an original one. In essence, it's the story of a fae royal who comes to claim the throne after being raised on an isolated island until her mother's assassination. That being said, it did keep my attention, and I felt myself starting to get pulled into the characters and the story. Unfortunately, it's quite short, and I'm a fast reader, so I felt a little bit like I just wasn't getting enough time with Liana and the her guards. The second book looks to have a longer page count, and I liked CBN enough that I'll definitely check out Bound by Secret.
Lawson's characters have some variety in their personalities, and there's a lot of potential to develop the dynamic between them. Two of Liana's guards are brothers, and we get to see a little more camaraderie between them, but the relationship between them and the Captain of the Guard, who's supposed to be one of their close companions, doesn't shine through as strongly.
Liana is outspoken and, naturally, going to shake things up in the Night Court. Being raised away from their society, she's being dropped into Court as a fresh set of eyes and an open mind. She's not one who's going to cling to tradition for the sake of tradition, and I think there are going to be some big moments in the following books because she's really going to strike out and try to lead the Court in her own way.
Kade, Finn, and Alaric are a balance of some of the typical personalities: the flirty, fun-loving adventurer most likely to break the rules, the shy, quieter brother who's also more inclined to research and planning, and the leader who is a bit more reserved and tries to lead the team by example- less likely to joke, and more of the follow-the-rules type. Are these brand new archetypes? No, but that doesn't mean that they don't work. Lawson's characters do have an infectious joy to them when they're joking around or playing with each other which is fun to read.
I really wish that the characters were more fleshed out. I felt like there wasn't much opportunity to see beyond each of their basic personality types, and I want to know more about their backstories. We get a few little glimpses into Liana's life on the island (she tends to have quick mentions of lessons she learned from the women who raised her), but we don't dig very deep into who the guards are or where they really came from.
One of the characters I'm most intrigued by is Tiernan. An emissary from the Day Court (not very welcomed), he definitely had some major potential to be our "big bad" for this book, but it looks like he'll be playing a more complex role instead, and it could have some dramatic repercussions for the dynamic Liana's developing with her guards as well as the dynamic she needs to develop with her court.
Overall, the plot flew by, and it was easy to follow. I wasn't entirely surprised by the reveal of the "big bad", but there's more lurking in the shadows that promises to up the drama and conflict in book two.

Claimed by Night A Reverse Harem Fantasy Romance The Queen Consorts Book 1 eBook Elena Lawson Reviews
A good story, although many parts are fairly transparent. I enjoyed the characters and the plot--more depth would have been nice, but a good value for the price, and an entertaining few hours of reading.
An action packed romance. An unusual queen takes the throne, but she is met with betrayal and attempts on her life. Liana is a wonderful character as well as her men. This book was a delight to read.
This is a great start for a series! This book is packed with action with just the right amount of steamy!! I love that Liana is so strong and love the way the story develops. give me more soon
This was a magnificent story. Liana is the new queen and cant trust anyone except her loyal guards. She is strong, stubborn, and is not in favor of tradition. This book built a captivating world, and I am interested in seeing what happens next with her & her guards.
I really enjoyed this first part of the story. There is lots of action, intrugue, adventure and romance. I like all the men that are so drawn to this woman who has to take on enemies to protect others. There are many twists and surprises and I look forward to seeing the story develop.
Claimed By Night is a fabulous opening to what is shaping up to be an incredible series. The action packed pages enthralled me and I couldn't put my kindle down! I love the way author Elena Lawson brought the heat with just the right touch of steam without going overboard, and the passion fit seamlessly with the superb storyline. Now I just have to find the patience to wait for Book 2 so I can see what happens next!!
I am so mad right now reading the last page. Oh I got hung up on a clif hanger how rude. The book was great love the details and the characters. But man-o-man I was angry that it ended why? Why can't I just binge read all of it it was really good I enjoyed it I was enthralled and I want more so thank you.
